One Horse Open Sleigh Spanner Card

This is a wintery Christmas card with a sleigh and horse. There is a scenery of it in a snowy field with a night sky as a backdrop. there are snowflake embellishments added and a die cut label from the Nested Essentials Dies with the words "Tis the Season" stamped on it. It has a silver trim bow adhered next to the label. This is also a Spanner Fun Fold card. The two side panels along with the horse & sleigh raise together to reveal the middle panel that also raised to reveal the inside message.

The One Horse Open Sleigh Spanner Card looks complicated to make, but just a few steps and it becomes an interactive Fun Fold!  The artists at Stampin’ Up! have above and beyond creating this amazing package of designer paper scenery’s.  It won’t be hard to use up the entire package!  Make sure to order at least two before supplies run out.

One Horse Open Sleigh Spanner Fun Fold Card Supplies

  • Horse & Sleigh Bundle
  • Brightest Glow Stamp Set
  • BoHo Blue Card Stock – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ – Cut up to the score line @ 1 1/4″ on each side of the card front (refer to video if needed)
  • Early Espresso Card Stock – (2) – 1 1/8″ x 4 1/8″ (side panels), 2 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ (center front panel)
  • Misty Moonlight Card Stock – (2) – 1 1/8″ x 4 1/8″ (inside side panels)
  • Basic White Card Stock – 4″ x 5 1/4″, scrap for label & horse and sleigh image
  • One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Paper – 4 3/4″ x 4″ (front panels), (2) – 1″ x 4″ (inside panels)
  • Window Sheet – 1″ x 5 1/4″
  • Memento Ink Pad
  • Stampin’ Blends Combo’s – Boho Blue, Crumb Cake, Night of Navy
  • Silver Metallic Specialty Paper or Holographic Trio Specialty Paper – Scraps for Trim on Sleigh
  • Adhesive Sheets for Sleigh Trim 
  • Nested Essential Dies
  • Simply Elegant Trim – 16″
  • Adhesive Backed Snowflake Assortment
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  • Dimensionals

Instructions for One Horse Open Sleigh Spanner Card

  1. Score Card Base at 4 1/4″
  2. Use Paper Trimmer to cut the two panels on the card front.  Measure over to 1 1/4″ and cut up to the score line.  Do the same on the opposite side
  3. Adhere window sheet strip just on the two side panels, not the center!  (refer to the photo below)
  4. Cut the front designer paper @ 1″, 2 3/4″, 1″ – make sure to cut in order to keep your scene in order
  5. Adhere these panels to the Early Espresso Card Stock
  6. Adhere the (2) small panels, lift these out of the way, adhere the center panel
  7. Stamp the Horse & Sleigh image on scrap Basic White Card Stock, color with Stampin’ Blends as desired, die cut.  
  8. Die cut a second horse & sleigh with no stamped image.  Just a plain die cut.  Layer onto the back of the colored horse & sleigh.  It cleans up the backside as shown in the photo below
  9. Adhere sleigh to the front side panels across the window sheet strip.  Make sure dimensionals are not showing in that middle panel part as shown
  10. Stamp Greeting on Basic White Card Stock scrap, die cut with banner from Nested Essential dies
  11. Adhere label to center panel with dimensionals
  12. Tie a double bow with 16″ Silver Simply Elegant Trim, adhere to center panel with mini glue dot
  13. Stamp remaining Basic White Card Stock layer with inside greeting, layer to card base
  14. Adhere remaining designer paper to Misty Moonlight Card Stock, adhere to inside
  15. Die cut a tree/bush from specialty paper, use parts of it to embellish as desired to the card inside. 
  16. Embellish with Adhesive Snowflakes as desired
  17. Embellish envelope with desired stamp images
This is a view of the side panels for this Spanner Card. Look closely to see the clear window sheet that is attached to the two panels and has the sleigh and horse attached above it to hide the window sheet.This is a view of the front center panel. It show how the window sheet strip is not attached to it. Just the two side panels. It also shows the wintery scene with a greeting label that says "Tis the Season"This is a view of the card inside with a greeting and more decorative side panels of designer paper. There are also some silver foil trees that are added as embellishments.
